As part of a working visit to Japan to attend the summit of the Group of Seven nations, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic. Giorgia Meloni.

This was reported by the press service of the President’s Office, Ukrinform saw.

“The parties noted the importance of continuing the dialogue between Ukraine and Italy on critical issues of bilateral relations. Volodymyr Zelensky and Giorgia Meloni also discussed the first results of the Ukrainian President’s visit to Italy, which took place on May 13,” statement reads.

In particular, the two leaders discussed defense and political support for Ukraine on the part of Italy.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the need to improve Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, including through training Ukrainian war pilots.

The leaders coordinated their positions ahead of Zelensky’s participation in the summit of the Group of Seven nations.

As reported by Ukrinform, the president of Ukraine also held a meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The parties discussed the further implementation of the agreements reached during Zelensky’s visit to Britain on May 14.
