A defensive-offensive operation is ongoing in Donetsk region. The defense forces have success not only on the flanks around Bakhmut but also on other areas of the front.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said this during the United News telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We have a defensive-offensive operation going on because it is a set of measures, and I will emphasize once again that we do not focus exclusively on offensive actions. Today we also have successes. In fact, we are talking about the flanks around Bakhmut, we are also talking about other directions, about which we will be able to say in more detail later, and there is the advance of our troops,” Maliar said, adding that fierce battles continue because the enemy does not give up its positions easily.
She clarified that there are other successes in Donetsk region, in particular, on the front line with a length of more than 600 km in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia group.
As reported, the day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Ukrainian defenders “for the good news from Bakhmut direction”.
