After flooding in Kherson region, sappers inspect more than 700 ha

In the Kherson region, sappers checked more than 700 hectares of territory that was flooded due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by Russian troops.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Military Administration, according to Ukrinform.

“Almost 704 hectares of territory have already been cleared of mines, more than half of which is the Ostrov neighborhood,” the report says.

As noted, bomb squads found and neutralized 87 explosive devices brought by the “big water”.

Over the past day, 72 thousand tons of water were pumped out of 56 flooded basements in the region.

On June 27, Khersongaz resumed gas distribution to 4 high-rise buildings in Korabelny district and 3 buildings in Bilozerka, according to the regional gas company. Work is ongoing to restore the gas distribution network and connect the buildings.

Employees of Khersonvodokanal are pumping water out of flooded premises, disinfecting wells, repairing and drying equipment.

The company employed 120 specialists and 37 vehicles to clean up the Korabelny district of Kherson. More than 21,000 square meters of residential area were cleaned, and almost 350 tons of garbage were removed.

As reported by Ukrinform, at night on June 6, the Russian army blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, causing flooding of parts of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions and at the same time critical shallowing of the Kakhovka reservoir.
