Chief of Ukraine’s General Staff discusses military cooperation with his Lithuanian colleague

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Shaptala discussed military cooperation and training of soldiers with his Lithuanian colleague, Major General Mindaugas Steponavičius.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported this on Telegram.

“Shaptala held a meeting with Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Lithuania, Major General Mindaugas Steponavičius,” the report says.

According to the General Staff, the parties discussed the security situation around Ukraine and key issues of current Ukrainian-Lithuanian military cooperation, in particular in the sectors of military education, collective and individual training of soldiers and formation of the sergeant corps.

Shaptala told his Lithuanian colleague about the efforts of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to repel armed aggression, and thanked him for the support in confronting the Russian aggressor.

The parties outlined the directions of future partnership work and identified the priority steps to achieve the mutual pragmatic interests of the departments.

As reported, Lithuania purchased two units of the Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) that will be transferred to Ukraine.

On June 28, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda announced that two NASAMS units purchased by Lithuania in Norway would soon arrive in Ukraine.
