Vladimir Putin has not achieved any of his goals during almost 500 days of his full-scale war against Ukraine, and this is a real disaster for him.

Former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“If Putin has even a little bit of rational thinking left and the ability to objectively assess the situation, then he should be convinced that he made a mistake, because none of his goals were achieved,” Kwasniewski said.

According to him, in particular, Putin warned about NATO’s approaching Russia’s borders, but after the start of the war he started, Finland joined NATO, and Sweden is on the way to becoming a member of the military alliance. In addition, the Russian president predicted that “he will be in Kyiv in a few days” after the war began – but this did not happen, too.

“Thirdly, and this is probably the most important thing, Putin was sure that the Ukrainian people do not exist, their national consciousness is low and they will not fight Russia so zealously. Today, if – I repeat- he still has even a little bit of rational thinking, he should understand that the Ukrainians have a very strong national consciousness, they are determined to fight for the independence of Ukraine and show extraordinary heroism in this struggle. Thoughts that he would be greeted in Ukraine with flowers were myths of Russian propaganda,” Kwasniewski said.

According to his conviction, all the calculations on which the Russian aggression was based turned out to be false. However, Kwasniewski expressed doubt that Putin is drawing any conclusions from this. He said that after 22 years in power, Putin found himself in a kind of trap because he believes the propaganda he himself created.

“He is actually completely deprived of any opportunity to really assess the situation, and those who should give him a true assessment of the situation, in particular intelligence or the military, are simply afraid to present it to him and tell him how things are really going. During 500 days, Putin failed to achieve any of his goals, and this should be a disaster for him,” Kwasniewski said.
