Yermak, Sullivan continue consultations on security commitments for Ukraine

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has had a phone call with National Security Advisor to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan.

The relevant statement was made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As part of the ongoing dialogue with allies, Yermak briefed the American side on the situation on the battlefield and the measures being taken by the Defense Forces to liberate the Ukrainian land from Russian invaders.

The Head of the President’s Office also spoke about Russia’s recent terrorist attack on the historic center of Odesa and port infrastructure of Ukraine. Yermak stressed the need to continue bolstering Ukraine’s air defense system in order to protect people’s lives and prevent the destruction of the country’s export potential, on which the global food security depends.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing to find ways to help Ukraine export grain to the world market, particularly the Global South.

In addition, Yermak and Sullivan continued consultations on long-term security commitments for Ukraine and discussed a process in which bilateral agreements with partner nations can be concluded as part of the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, which was adopted at the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

The interlocutors discussed the implementation of President Zelensky’s Peace Formula and the possibilities for a future Global Peace Summit.

Yermak thanked the United States for the package of defense assistance, which had recently been announced and includes artillery, missiles and ammunition, drones, and other significant capabilities critical to assisting Ukraine in its counteroffensive.

Briefly, Yermak and Sullivan also discussed the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft, which is expected to begin in the near future, and the implementation of reforms in the anti-corruption and rule of law sectors.

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine thanked U.S. President Joseph Biden, his entire team, both houses of Congress and the entire American people for the help and support for Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, independence and common democratic values.
