Dragging out Ukraine war also works against Russia itself – expert

Russia’s dragging out its war against Ukraine works both ways, as destructive processes are currently taking place in Russia and elements of a civil war are visible.

Serhiy Dzherdzh, a serviceman and the head of the NATO-Ukraine Civic League, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

In his opinion, in a situation where Russia bets on prolonging time and a war of attrition, Ukraine will have a margin of strength, and its partners will have patience and desire to help the country.

“There were relevant statements, and we see that this support – financial and military support – is only growing. After all, the sanctions against Russia are also increasing. Also, this delay works both ways. Destructive processes are also taking place in Russia itself, including for the economy, and elements of a civil war are visible. I think that there is some fatigue from Putin as well. In other words, a critical mass of all this is accumulating,” Dzherdzh said.

According to him, Russia can be compared to “Koschei the Deathless” – he seems to be strong, but there is a needle that can be broken – and he will die.

“Of course, Russia has a large army, a lot of equipment, the command system works, the budget allocates some money for the military industry, it produces equipment for war and the murder of our citizens. That is, this is their strong point. How to find their weaknesses in order to destroy Putin’s regime is another matter. Life suggests that these methods exist. I think that in this regard, the national liberation movements of the peoples occupied by the Russian Federation can be an ally of Ukraine and a united Europe,” the expert said.

He noted that it is difficult, because Russia has been removing the sprouts of this national consciousness for many years, but it is still there.

According to Dzherdzh, the peoples colonized by the Russian Federation are Ukraine’s natural allies, and their struggle for independence is the direction to which attention should be paid.
