Since the outset of the full-scale war, Sweden has provided Ukraine with EUR 2.2 billion in bilateral support and will continue to help the nation in its fight for freedom and territorial integrity, which is currently the most important task of the Swedish government in international politics.

That’s according to Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, who spoke at a joint press conference following the meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, Ukrinform’s own correspondent reports.

“Our discussions today have of course focused on how Sweden, Europe, and countries all around the globe that stand with you can support you in the best possible way. As you know, since February last year, Sweden has provided Ukraine with EUR2.2 billion in bilateral support and we will continue to provide political, military, humanitarian, and financial support in close dialogue and dialogue with you, our common partners, to make sure that Ukraine’s needs are met for as long as it takes,” said Kristersson.

He recalled that earlier this week, the Swedish government announced the 13th military support package for Ukraine, which focuses on repairing and maintaining the capabilities that have already been provided.

These are “CV-90s, Leopard tanks, and Archer systems, and, of course, spare parts and ammunition.” The package also includes “mine clearance components,” the head of Swedish government added. “We have already initiated work on further long-term military support to Ukraine.”

According to him, the agreement signed as a result of the meeting is evidence of increased cooperation in the supply, production, as well as training on the СV-90s.

“In the field of foreign and security policy, no task is more important for my government than supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom and territorial integrity. Ukraine is fighting for us, for all European democracies,” Kristersson emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska are on a working visit to Sweden. During talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Zelensky discussed defense cooperation, including the supply of CV-90 IFVs.
