Over 7,000 people applied to the military recruitment centers run by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine four months since they launched their work.

That’s according to Oleksiy Bezhevets, the Defense Ministry’s Recruitment Commissioner, Ukrinform reports, referring to ArmyInform.

“We not only provide advice to people, explaining to them what vacancies are available, but also contact military units. We help people get into the unit of choice after they register and pass basic military training,” Bezhevets said.

The recruitment system in Ukraine has been deployed since February. More than 7,000 people have already applied to the centers, 10 percent of them are women, he said.

In the centers, people get consultations, get interviews set up with recruiters from military units, and remain accompanied at all stages of enlistment. Only civilians work in the said centers. Their task is to choose a military position in accordance with an applicant’s abilities and skills.

If everything suits the applicant, they are forwarded for an interview with a military unit. They can choose the unit, brigade and military position, taking into account their age and education, said Recruitment Commissioner Oleksiy Bezhevets.

As reported, 25 military recruitment centers operate across Ukraine.
