Russian attack early Saturday kills at least three in Kyiv

Amid an air raid alert in Kyiv, a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district went ablaze after an explosion. At least three people were killed as per tentative reports.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Mayor Vitaly Klitschko’s Telegram channel.

“Fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Non-residential building,” his Telegram post says.

All emergency units scrambled to the scene, the mayor added.

Later, the chief of the municipal military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said a person was killed in the attack.

“According to reports from the ground, a person died as a result of an enemy attack in the Shevchenkivskyi district,” he wrote on Telegram.

The debris from the downed air target fell in the Desnyanskyi district.

Later, Tymur Tkachenko updated the death toll to three.

“Also in the Shevchenkivskyi district, windows were shattered in an apartment block and smoke was seen coming out of it. The glass elements of the entrance to the Lukianivska metro station arewerealso damaged. It is currently closed for passengers. Trains are proceeding without stopping at the station,” the mayor wrote on Telegram.

In addition, according to Vitaliy Klitschko, a water main was also damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi district. “Repair teams are heading to the site,” the mayor added.
