Ukrainian defenders repelled an attempt by the Russian army to storm their positions in the Toretsk sector under the cover of bad weather.
The 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign posted footage of the battle, which took place in an old industrial zone, on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
The brigade informed that the Russian military began to attack the position of adjacent units of the Defense Forces in one of the buildings of the old industrial zone.
Under the cover of fog, the invaders managed to get inside, and an intense firefight ensued.
The Russian stormtroopers were outnumbered, so the defenders needed help. It was too dangerous to use artillery, as the distance between the forces was less than 20 meters.
Initially, Ukrainian defenders tried to knock out the enemy with FPV drones, but due to dense buildings and weather conditions, this did not work.
Tankers from the 28th Brigade arrived to help their comrades. Taking advantage of the fog in their favor, under the guidance of the “Gyurza” unit, they drove up to the part of the building occupied by the Russians.
It is noted that in a few minutes “about a dozen occupants mixed with the concrete”.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region, Russian troops continue to use the tactics of small group assaults, and a large area of the city is under fire from the Defense Forces.
