In wake of Russia’s deadly drone strike, Zelensky urges world to keep up pressure on Moscow

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine expressed condolences to family and friends of those killed in a Russian strike that targeted an apartment block in Sumy, and stressed the importance of continued international pressure on Russia over such terror.

The head of state made the statement via Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

He recalled that at night, a Shahed-type kamikaze drone hit an ordinary apartment block in the city of Sumy.

As a result of the attack, four people died and nine more, including a child, were injured.

The search and rescue operation is still in progress and those affected are receiving assistance.

“This is a horrific tragedy, a heinous Russian crime. It is crucial that the world does not pause in putting pressure on Russia for this terror. I am grateful to all the leaders who speak out in support of Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Zelensky noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on the night of January 30, a Russian drone hit a ten-storey apartment block in Sumy. As a result of the attack, nine apartments were destroyed.
