Russian propaganda is spreading a fake video allegedly created by the UNITED24 Media platform, claiming that over 20,000 Ukrainian servicemen have undergone medical rehabilitation in Europe through a corruption scheme.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
The video falsely claims that medical boards issued preferential referrals for rehabilitation abroad in exchange for bribes ranging from $1,000 and above.
According to the propagandists’ version, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) allegedly has evidence of the involvement of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in this scheme.
“UNITED24 Media has confirmed to the Center that it did not create such a video. The goal of such fakes is to discredit the Ukrainian military leadership and undermine Ukraine’s reputation in the eyes of the international community,” the CCD stated.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Russian fake news has been actively spreading on social media, including false claims about the secret mobilization of 17-year-old orphans from Sumy region.
