One of victims of attack on high-rise building in Sumy dies in hospital

A 76-year-old woman who was injured when a Russian drone hit a high-rise building in Sumy has died in hospital.

This was reported on Facebook by the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.

“Sumy: electricity, water and gas supply have been restored in the building damaged by a Russian drone, and elevators are working. Doctors managed to stabilize the condition of the girl who was seriously injured. She is still in intensive care, but is already talking. Another victim of the enemy attack, a 76-year-old woman, unfortunately, died in hospital today,” the statement said.

According to the head of the regional military administration Volodymyr Artyukh, the relevant services are currently working to restore heat supply to the damaged building. Heat supply is expected to start in the near future.

“Emergency closing of windows and balcony frames has been carried out, heavy structures are being removed. In the near future, the work of public utilities will be reinforced by volunteer groups that will start clearing the area on Monday,” the regional administration said.

Police representatives are currently securing the area. Access to the damaged entrance is blocked. The day before, its residents, accompanied by rescuers, could take away essentials, documents, etc.

The operational condition of the entrance is planned to be determined by conducting an appropriate examination.

The community has prepared 22 places in dormitories to accommodate the affected people. However, there have been no applications for housing. All residents whose apartments were damaged stayed with relatives.

As reported, on the night of January 30, a Russian drone hit a ten-story building in Sumy. There was information about nine dead and 16 wounded.
