NHSU Head announces changes to Program of Medical Guarantees for military personnel

Additionally, higher coefficients will be applied to rehabilitation for severe spinal injuries and amputations. Nataliia Husak, Head of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), announced this in a program on Ukrinform’s YouTube channel.

“Before the war, the Program of Medical Guarantees did not focus on trauma. Now, specific factors have been introduced in surgery and inpatient care. New coefficients are applied for burns and intensive care treatment, as we understand that this is where our defenders are, and we need to increase the cost of services accordingly. Moreover, rehabilitation has significantly changed over three years of war,” Husak explained.

She added that higher correction coefficients have also been introduced for rehabilitation in cases of amputation and severe spinal injuries.

Currently, there are no separate medical packages for military personnel, but additional programs exist for them.

“We have launched an additional program for military personnel and veterans —dental prosthetics and treatment. One of the biggest medical needs for service members is dental care. We first introduced this program in 2024 and will continue it in 2025 with an increased tariff for dental prosthetics. We hope this is the support our defenders need right now,” Husak stated.

She also emphasized that infertility is a pressing issue for military personnel.

“We will also begin funding reproductive cell preservation as a service in 2025. This has become a challenge due to the war, and we need to think about the future,” Husak concluded.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the PMG for 2025 came into effect on January 1. The state budget has allocated over 175.5 billion UAH for the program, an increase of more than 16 billion UAH compared to 2024.
