The number of assault actions by Russian troops on the Toretsk front has increased by 30% compared to December 2024, and in the area near Chasiv Yar, the number of such actions has risen by 97%.
This was reported by the Spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational-Tactical Grouping (OTG) Dmytro Zaporozhets during a TV broadcast, as cited by Ukrinform.
“On the Toretsk front, the number of enemy assault actions has increased by 30% compared to December while near Chasiv Yar, there has been an increase in artillery shelling. If, the week before last, the number of shelling incidents was over 150, last week it reached over 200. The number of assaults has increased by 97% compared to December 2024,” Zaporozhets stated.
He added that at the beginning of January, the enemy actively used armored vehicles, but since last week, their use has decreased. Due to the destruction of most of the enemy’s armored vehicles, the occupiers have started using light vehicles for logistical operations.
“Such vehicles are not always destroyed because they are smaller in size and move faster. These include ATVs, motorcycles, and other vehicles. They are difficult to destroy due to the weather conditions — mild winter, high humidity, fog, and so on,” Zaporozhets noted.
He also pointed out that in Toretsk, the Russians are forcing civilians to collect the bodies of dead Russian soldiers.
“The enemy engages civilians in evacuation operations and forces them to collect the bodies of the occupiers in order to move them to certain locations,” Zaporozhets said.
He emphasized that no measures of influence have been applied to the civilian population by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Additionally, 58 people are currently in Toretsk, according to information from the military administration of the town.
As reported by Ukrinform, since the beginning of the day, there have been 53 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian troops. Fighting is ongoing on three sectors of the front, with Pokrovsk remaining the hottest point.
