The Russian forces are intensifying shelling of the border areas in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.

As reported by Ukrinform, Colonel Vadym Mysnyk, Spokesperson for the Siversk Operational-Tactical Group of Troops, said this on live TV.

“The operational situation on the border of Chernihiv and Sumy regions with Russia is tense. The enemy doesn’t cease shelling day after day. For several days we observed a slight decrease in the shelling, but yesterday the enemy once again intensified it,” Mysnyk said.

According to him, the Russians are actively using UAVs and targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.

“The Russian forces almost daily employ drone drops in the border area, as well as FPV drones and mortars. Yesterday, they launched unguided air rockets on populated areas in Chernihiv and Sumy regions. The enemies also actively use strike UAVs of Shahed and Geran types: over the past day, our forces shot down 14 such drones. We also actively employ electronic warfare. Unfortunately, as UAVs fall, they sometimes hit civilian objects. The terrorist state is targeting civilian objects — critical infrastructure, transport, and residential buildings,” Mysnyk noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, earlier in the area of responsibility of the Siversk OTGT, changes in the flight paths and technical characteristics of Russian drones were recorded.
