The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, called on the international community to take urgent measures and develop new tools to bring to justice those responsible for the executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
This is how he commented on X on the latest statement by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission on the increasing number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war, Ukrinform reports.
“This could be one of the largest campaigns of intentional POW murder in modern history. These atrocities demand urgent international action. Russia’s horrific executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war demonstrate that Ukraine confronts true beasts,” Sybiha noted.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy called on the world not only to condemn, but also to take urgent action. New effective international legal tools and concrete steps are needed to hold the perpetrators accountable, the Foreign Minister stressed.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has recorded 79 cases where Russian soldiers executed the Ukrainian soldiers they had captured, including 24 such incidents since late August 2024.
