During a working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Egypt, discussions were held regarding the expansion of markets for domestic agricultural products.
Serhii Tkachuk, the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
He emphasized that Ukraine is an important supplier of grain crops to Egypt, and these figures are growing every year.
Last year, Ukraine exported 3.322 million tonnes of corn, 2.875 million tonnes of wheat, 754 thousand tonnes of soybeans and 16.1 thousand tonnes of barley.
“Currently, negotiations are underway to open markets for additional products, including milk, table eggs, fish products, pet food, small cattle, and ready-to-eat beef products, and others. Egypt has the opportunity to import fish and fish products, and expand the list of fruits and vegetables,’ said Tkachuk.
He also noted that Egypt supplies a quarter of the oranges sold in Ukrainian markets and shops. This provides consumers with a wider choice of products.
As reported, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Ukraine and Egypt increased by 32% in 2024 compared to 2023, reaching USD 1.4 billion.
