Ukraine’s General Staff confirms strikes on Astrakhan gas processing plant, Volgograd oil refinery

The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with other Defense Forces units, struck the Volgograd Oil Refinery (Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka) and the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant on the night of February 3.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

Both of these strategic facilities are major suppliers of fuel for the Russian army.

Preliminary reports indicate that primary processing units at the refinery in the Volgograd region have been damaged. Meanwhile, a fire continues to burn at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant, and operations there have been halted.

The extent of the damage and the full results of the strikes are still being assessed.

The General Staff said that combat operations targeting strategic facilities involved in supporting Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine would continue.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainian forces struck nine oil facilities on Russian territory in January 2025.
