Instructors from the Norwegian training operation ELLISEV are running positional (trench) combat training sessions for Ukrainian recruits on UK soil.
That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.
Ukrainian troops, under the expert guidance of the Norwegian National Guard, are training in capturing and holding trenches, positions in wooded areas, and providing first aid on the battlefield.
The training is being held as part of the INTERFLEX multinational training operation. They are aimed at increasing the security and capabilities of Ukraine’s Armed Forces on the front line.
As reported, Operation ELLISEV is a general term for military support for Ukraine from Norway. It is named after the eldest daughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Yelyzaveta (Ellisev), who married King Harald to became Queen of Norway.
Operation Interflex is a British-led multinational training program designed for Ukrainian Armed Forces recruits with little or no military experience. Over two years, more than 40,000 Ukrainian servicemen have undergone training under the said program.
