Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, where he emphasized the importance of signing a 100-year partnership agreement between the two countries.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Zelensky began the talks by saying, “I’m pleased to welcome you. I know you’ve already had meetings with our prime minister and foreign minister.”

He noted that the 100-year partnership agreement signed between Ukraine and the UK is a unique document. “I believe it is an important historical document,” Zelensky said.

He thanked the UK for its continued support of the Ukrainian people, which has been provided actively since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We are grateful for the funding of our weapon production, which is critically important to us,” Zelensky said.

He recalled that on February 4, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, passed a resolution ratifying an agreement between the Ukrainian and British governments regarding official credit support for the development of Ukraine’s defense capabilities. This agreement will provide Ukraine with up to GBP 2 billion for the purchase of air defense systems, missiles for them, and the maintenance of military equipment through its repair and servicing within Ukraine.

Lammy, in turn, noted that the 100-year partnership agreement is indeed unique. He added that the UK’s support for Ukraine will not waver.

He said it was clear that, at this moment, Putin does not seek peace. He also added that Britain would remain Ukraine’s steadfast partner.
