Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed joint production projects in the defense industry during a meeting with Chief of Defense of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Michael Claesson.
Umerov said this in a post on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
“In Kyiv, I had the honor of welcoming the Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Michael Claesson. The key topic of our discussions was industrial cooperation,” Umerov said.
He said that Sweden has advanced technologies, while Ukraine has production capabilities and combat experience.
“Our shared goal is to combine these strengths. We already have concrete proposals that will enable us to launch defense industry production projects this year,” Umerov said.
He noted that among defense priorities are establishing joint ventures with the potential for localized production in Ukraine, expanding cooperation between the governments and defense companies of both countries, and advancing strategic initiatives in the armaments sector.
“I am grateful to Sweden for its unwavering support! Together, we are strengthening security in Europe,” Umerov said.
