Nuclear safety, situation at ZNPP: IAEA’s Grossi holds consultations in Moscow

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi visited Russia on February 7 for “consultations”.

The official reported this on X, Ukrinform saw.

“Completed interagency consultations in Moscow with Russian delegation led by Rosatom’s Likhachev,” Grossi wrote.

Grossi called this round of negotiations on nuclear safety and security of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which have been going on for three years, “more critical than ever”.

“The IAEA stands fully engaged to prevent a nuclear accident,” the head of the agency added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the IAEA has postponed the rotation of its monitoring mission at the Zaporizhzhia NPP due to the lack of security guarantees from Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on the international community to support the Agency, whose leadership is facing unprecedented pressure from the aggressor state.
