Ukraine seeing no strike groups being formed in Belarus – border guards

As of today, Ukraine’s forces are seeing no signs of any strike group being amassed on the territory of Belarus. However, the said direction will remain a threat until Belarus ceases support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This was stated on national television by the spokesman for Ukraine’s Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko.

“As of now, and this has been the case for a while, there is no strike group on the territory of Belarus that would be deployed toward our border. This applies to both the elements of the armed forces of Belarus and those of the terrorist state (the Russian Federation – ed.), which Belarus is constantly playing along with, and there are also no sufficient forces on this country’s territory. At the same time, we must be ready for any developments. As I said, this direction is important for us and it will remain a threat until Belarus stops supporting Russia in this war,” Demchenko noted.

He recalled that Belarus, starting in 2022, has been conducting exercises on its territory with the participation of various elements of its armed forces and territorial defense.

The spokesman also emphasized Ukraine’s continuous monitoring efforts along the border from Volyn to Chernihiv region. It is not ruled out that Russian forces could use Belarusian soil as was the case at the outset of a full-scale invasion.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the presidential “elections” in Belarus on January 26 a “one-man political show”. Ukraine, like most democratic countries, does not recognize their legitimacy.
