NATO seeks to identify, together with Ukraine, the lessons of Russia’s war of aggression, weaving them into its strategy and increasing interoperability.
This was stated by the NATO Military Committee Chairman, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, in a video address recorded at Ukrinform.
Dragone emphasized that at this pivotal moment, Ukraine remains at the forefront of NATO’s priorities.

The Admiral also noted the creation of the NATO Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine and the NATO Ukraine Joint Analysis Training and Education Center, as well as the establishment of the first-ever NATO-Ukraine Joint Center (JATEC), which seeks to jointly identify and take into account the lessons of Russia’s brutal war of aggression.
“These lessons will help shape our understanding of warfare. They will be woven into NATO strategy and policy and will bolster interoperability. Above all, they support Ukraine in winning the war and maintaining its sovereignty,” the Chairman of the Military Committee assured.
“It is in the political and military interest of the Alliance to support Ukraine, not only now, but also in the future. You are fighting not only for your nation. You are fighting for your identity. And NATO stands with you. Our support for your sovereignty and territorial integrity will remain unwavering.,” Dragone added, emphasizing that “together, we can put Ukraine in the strongest possible position moving forward”.
He condemned Russia for its atrocities committed throughout the unprovoked war, such as the siege of Mariupol, the executions and torture in Bucha and the devastation of Irpin, and called every missile fired at Ukrainian cities a crime against humanity.
