U.S. President Donald Trump intends to end the Russia-Ukraine war, but security guarantees for Ukraine must be provided by Europe.
National Security Advisor to the U.S. President, Mike Waltz, stated this in the Meet The Press program on the American television channel NBC News, Ukrinform reports.
“President Trump is going to end it (the war – ed.), and in terms of security guarantees, that is squarely going to be with the Europeans,” he said.
According to Waltz, next week the U.S. Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and Special Envoy will be in Europe to discuss details on how to end the war.
Waltz also added that Trump is ready to impose sanctions and tariffs on Russia.
“We need to get all sides to the table and end this war,” Waltz stressed.
The National Security Advisor also noted that Trump has discussed ending the war with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and leaders of Middle Eastern countries.
As Ukrinform previously reported, U.S. President Donald Trump claims that he had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding ending the war against Ukraine but did not provide any details.
