Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has managed to return 31 children who were previously abducted by Russians.

This was reported in an interview with NV by Daria Zarivna, Director of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative and advisor to the Head of the Office of the President, as cited by Ukrinform.

She also recalled that at the end of last year, Yale University published a study documenting 314 cases of the illegal transfer and deportation of Ukrainian children, followed by their placement in Russia’s adoption system.

“This is part of Russia’s systemic policy of deportation and erasing the identity of Ukrainian children. It is very important that this study proves that children, primarily from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, were relocated to 21 regions of Russia — including as far as Siberia. Russian state aviation was used for this purpose, including aircraft from Putin’s personal fleet. All these facts have already been submitted for review by the International Criminal Court (ICC),” Zarivna stated.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on February 6, as part of the Ukrainian President’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, eight Ukrainian children who had been illegally detained by the occupiers in temporarily occupied Crimea were successfully returned.
