Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, stated that the only way to achieve a just peace is through strong support for Ukraine so that the aggressor becomes bogged down in international sanctions.
The Ukrainian Speaker emphasized this during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, as reported by Ukrinform.
“The only way to achieve a just and lasting peace is to support Ukraine so powerfully that the aggressor becomes bogged down not only in Ukrainian soil but also in international sanctions and its own internal problems,” Stefanchuk declared.
He outlined Ukraine’s most pressing needs and stressed the importance of more consolidated support for Kyiv.
“More air defense systems, more aircraft, more long-range artillery, more electronic warfare systems, more investments in Ukraine’s military industry! More effective sanctions, more determination in confiscating and using Russia’s frozen assets! More fair and irreversible punishments for the horrific war crimes committed,” Stefanchuk emphasized.
According to Stefanchuk, peace can only be achieved through strength, particularly the strength of unity and determination.
“Each of us bears a huge responsibility for the fate of our countries and peoples, for the fate of Europe, for the fate of the civilized world! The next phase will be crucial for the course of the war and the future of European security. Our task is to maintain our unity and ensure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and Europe. Establishing peace through strength is the only way to stop global tyrannies,” he stressed.
Ukrainian Speaker’s speech followed parliamentary hearings on the continuation of EU support for Ukraine.
