President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the United States Donald Trump agreed during a phone conversation to immediately start the work of their two teams. The priority will be meetings between the Ukrainian side and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

According to Ukrinform, this was announced on TV by Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, as he provided details of the phone conversation between Zelensky and Trump.

“The Presidents agreed on the immediate start of team collaboration. President Trump even confirmed this in an official tweet, stating that the first officials involved would be Secretary of State Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Vice President J.D. Vance. The Ukrainian President and his delegation will meet with two of them in Munich within a day. This will be a substantive discussion, during which the teams will begin developing plans for the future framework for ending this war,” Yermak said.

At the same time, he emphasized that President Zelensky remains firm in his stance that the war must end with a just peace.

“For him, certain matters are non-negotiable—Ukraine’s independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. These positions were discussed today. I believe that after Munich, a process of daily collaboration will begin,” Yermak noted.

Yermak added that Ukraine is fully prepared to begin these consultations and cooperation. Additionally, preparations are ongoing for an in-person meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States.

Discussing Zelensky’s meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Yermak stressed that a key priority is ensuring Ukraine’s economic security.

“The main focus was on securing Ukraine’s economic stability and fostering long-term cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. Ukraine seeks a strategic partnership with the U.S. for the long run. Firstly, we expect the United States to play a leading role in ending the war. Strengthening Ukraine’s position and defense capabilities is essential for this. However, we are also thinking about the future and the reconstruction of our country. We would like the United States to play a key role in that process,” Yermak said.

Yermak emphasized that the recent agreements mark a new stage in cooperation between the administrations of both Presidents.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky confirmed that he personally proposed to Trump the idea of granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals in exchange for security guarantees and financial incentives. He highlighted that Ukraine holds the largest uranium and titanium reserves in Europe, and stated that it would not be in the United States’ interests for these resources to fall into the hands of Russia, or potentially be transferred to North Korea, China, or Iran.
