Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine will not accept any decisions made by the U.S. and Russia if they are made without Ukraine’s participation.
The Ukrainian leader said this in an interview with NBC News, Ukrinform reports.
“I will never accept any decisions between the United States and Russia about Ukraine, never. And neither will our people — adults, children, no one. This is impossible. This war is in Ukraine, against us, and it’s our human losses. We are grateful for all the support, for the unity in the U.S. regarding Ukraine, and for bipartisan solidarity. We appreciate all of this, but no world leader can negotiate with Putin about us without us,” Zelensky said.
He said it was essential to work faster on a joint plan, and only after formulating it should negotiations with Russia begin.
Zelensky also believes that four parties must be at the negotiating table: Ukraine, the U.S., Europe, and Russia.
“We will become a member of the European Union in the future, so we need Europe’s support,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky stated earlier that since the war is taking place on Ukrainian territory, Ukraine’s voice must be decisive in negotiations.
