The United Arab Emirates will become a partner of Ukraine in the creation of the first food hub on the African continent.
He stated this in Abu Dhabi during an online press conference with Ukrainian journalists, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We also agreed that we would work in partnership on a project that we had wanted to launch for a long time but hadn’t had the time or opportunity to do so. These are food hubs on the African continent. The first partner has been found – the UAE,” the head of the Ukrainian state said.
As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the UAE Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks in an expanded format and one-on-one in Abu Dhabi. The discussions focused on potential projects to create a food hub in Egypt and the possibility of implementing agricultural programmes in Ukraine.
In his address to the nations of Africa, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to build food hubs in Africa.
Earlier, he noted that hubs for millions of tonnes of grain in Africa and other vulnerable regions would aim to improve access to Ukrainian grain and strengthen global food security.
