France plans to host a second meeting to discuss Ukraine and European security on Wednesday.
That’s according to Reuters which refers to its diplomatic sources, Ukrinform reports.
This time, European countries that were not present at Monday’s meeting, as well as Canada, a NATO ally, were invited to Paris.
Two diplomatic sources said those invited were Norway, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden and Belgium. The format would be hybrid, including video participation.
As reported, on February 17, the heads of government of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark met at the Élysée Palace. They were joined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and European Council President António Costa.
However, several uninvited countries, including Romania and the Czech Republic, expressed their disappointment.
An emergency meeting of EU leaders in Paris on Monday confirmed that Ukraine “deserves peace through strength.”
