Mass rally and march to support Ukraine prepared in Washington

The Ukrainian community, together with the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S., representatives of the United States, and other countries supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression, will gather on Saturday for a large rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The mass gathering, which will include a march through the center of the U.S. capital, is dedicated to the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale genocidal war, as reported by the event organizers to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“This event will be entirely dedicated to the need for continued support for Ukraine. In addition, participants will honor the memory of all those who have died in the struggle for freedom – both Ukrainian military personnel and civilians who lost their lives due to the war,” noted the co-organizer of the event, President of US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) Nadia Shaporynska.

She emphasized that the rally at the Lincoln Memorial has been held annually since the end of February to remind America of the full-scale war Russia continues to wage against Ukraine.

This year, it is expected that several thousand members of the Ukrainian community, clergy, diplomats, and public activists will gather. Buses from other states will bring participants to Washington. Additionally, as in previous years, U.S. officials and anyone supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression are invited to attend. Ukrainian veterans who defended Ukraine on the front lines are also expected to participate.

“One of the main messages that will be heard at the Lincoln Memorial is a call to the U.S. administration to continue military support for Ukraine, as well as a reminder about the Budapest Memorandum,” Shaporynska explained.

After the rally, there will be a march to the Russian ambassador’s residence in Washington, organized directly by US Ukrainian Activists.

“At the front of the column, we will carry banners calling for support for Ukraine, as well as one with the headline: ‘Ukraine – a powerful economic partner of the U.S., Russia = totalitarianism = terrorism and economic blackmail.’ These slogans will be addressed to the U.S. government,” the march organizer noted.

There will also be a small action with slogans such as: “Stop the terror in Ukraine!” “Stop killing civilians!” “Get out of Ukraine!” in front of the Russian ambassador’s residence.

The rally at the Lincoln Memorial will be organized with the support of US Ukrainian Activists, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), United Help Ukraine, Razom for Ukraine, the Ukrainian House in Washington, and the People of Ukraine Foundation. The Ukrainian Embassy in Washington and the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Philadelphia will also participate in the event.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian activists regularly hold support events in the U.S. capital and other American cities. In particular, US Ukrainian Activists organizes monthly rallies in front of the White House. Additionally, Ukrainian organizations conduct advocacy efforts in the U.S. Congress, organize humanitarian projects, and take other steps to continue supporting Ukraine.
