Ukraine may resume the transit of gas but not that of Russian origin.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko in an interview with LB live, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We may resume transit operations. But, Russian gas will not go into this pipeline,” Galushchenko said.

Currently, in his words, there are no ready-made proposals from other countries with regard to gas transit. At the same time, according to Galushchenko, Europe has an opportunity to replace Russian gas with Azerbaijani one.

“In fact, we are open to talks with neighbors. We will hold consultations. But, it is very important that we speak at the expert level,” Galushchenko added.

A reminder that, on December 31, 2024, the transit contract on the transportation of Russian gas towards Europe via Ukraine’s gas transmission system expired. Despite the halt of Russian gas transit, the situation on the EU’s energy market remains stable.
