U.S. President Donald Trump launched an unfounded attack on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a “comedian” and a “dictator” while accusing him of refusing to hold elections.
Trump made these statements on Wednesday on his social media platform, Truth Social, Ukrinform reports.
“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelensky, talked the United States of America into spending $350 billion, to go into a war that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a war that he, without the U.S. and Trump, will never be able to settle,” he wrote.
Trump repeated his claim that the United States has spent $200 billion more than Europe, and Europe’s money is guaranteed, while the U.S. “will get nothing back.”
“Why didn’t Sleepy Joe Biden demand equalization, in that this war is far more important to Europe than it is to us — we have a big, beautiful ocean as separation,” Trump said.
Additionally, he alleged that Zelensky admits that half of the U.S. aid sent to Ukraine “is missing.”
“He refuses to have elections, is very low in Ukrainian polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle.’ A dictator without elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a country left,” Trump wrote.
At the same time, he claimed that the U.S. is successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia — something, he argued, “all admit only Trump and the Trump administration, can do.”
He further stated that “Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring Peace, and Zelensky probably wants to keep the ‘gravy train’ going.”
“I love Ukraine, but Zelensky has done a terrible job, his country is shattered, and millions have unnecessarily died — and so it continues,” Trump concluded.
Trump recently called for elections to be held in Ukraine. He also claimed that Zelensky’s approval rating in Ukraine had dropped to 4% and that the country “has been blown to smithereens,” with most cities outside Kyiv left in ruins.
In response, President Zelensky refuted Trump’s claims, calling the figures part of Russian disinformation. He also stated that total wartime military expenditures have reached $320 billion, with $200 billion coming from international partners (the U.S. and EU). According to Zelensky, the U.S. has allocated $67 billion in military aid and an additional $31.5 billion in direct budgetary support.
