Ukrainian forces destroy 80 enemy drones, 78 vanish from radar

On the night of February 20, Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down 80 Russian drones, while another 78 disappeared from radar.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

Russian forces launched a combined missile and drone attack targeting critical infrastructure in the Kharkiv region.

In total, up to 14 missiles were used, including Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles (launched from the Volgograd region), Kalibr/Iskander-K cruise missile (launched from the Black Sea/Crimea), and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (launched from the Voronezh region).

Details on the effectiveness of air defense operations and the consequences of the missile strike have not been disclosed.

Additionally, the enemy launched 161 attack drones, including Shahed drones and other decoy UAVs, from multiple directions: Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).

Ukraine’s Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams were engaged in repelling the attack.

As of 10:00, 80 Shahed drones and other UAVs had been confirmed shot down over the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions.

Another 78 enemy drones went off radar with no reported damage.

The attack caused damage in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Kyiv regions. In the Kherson region, a Russian guided aerial bomb struck a residential building, partially destroying an apartment block. There are casualties, and rescue operations are ongoing.
