President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that France and the United Kingdom should participate in peace negotiations concerning Ukraine.
He made this statement during a press conference at the “Ukraine. Year 2025” forum, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“First of all, the visits of French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the United States next week are important. I believe they should be at the negotiation table as representatives of Europe. I cannot say who will officially represent Europe at the talks, but I believe at least one person will represent the EU, and of course, the UK must also be at the table,” Zelensky said.
He also noted that in the context of providing security guarantees to Ukraine, he is counting on Türkiye and its President, a point he has communicated to other partners.
Additionally, Germany must take part in peace negotiations, Zelensky emphasized, noting that Germany’s assistance to Ukraine is almost half of the total support provided by the United States. He also stressed the importance of Northern European countries in the peace process.
“With respect to everyone, we need to carefully consider the logistical aspects to understand who will be sitting at the negotiation table. This is absolutely crucial for me,” Zelensky added.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine needs lasting peace, not short-term solutions dependent on individual politicians.
