Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets has appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding a new case of the execution of captured Ukrainian defenders by Russian troops.
He reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
The Ombudsman noted that a video allegedly showing the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war in this section of the front is currently circulating on social media.
“According to one of the Ukrainian soldiers, these are warriors of the 82nd Brigade. The footage shows a Russian occupier deliberately shooting a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the head,” Lubinets stated.
He emphasized that the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war is yet another proof of the inhumane cruelty of the Russian invaders.
The mentioned video, as the Commissioner stressed, demonstrates the deliberate killing of defenseless individuals who had been captured.
Lubinets emphasized that such actions by Russian troops are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention and all norms of international humanitarian law.
He urged anyone with information regarding this crime to report it via the hotline: 0800 50 17 20.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, earlier this week, the Russians released footage of another alleged execution of a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
