Ukraine could become a unifying platform for other countries to create the Armed Forces of Europe.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a press conference at the “Ukraine. Year 2025” forum in Kyiv on Sunday, according to Ukrinform.

“I believe that there are weak points in Europe’s security. This is not related to one particular country. All these weak points were also present in Ukraine. But because of the war, we have done a lot. We have increased our production and strengthened our army. We now have an 800,000-strong army. Yes, this happened due to the tragedy of war. But Europeans need to invest in their countries’ defense capabilities. They need to rely on themselves. I propose that Ukraine becomes a unifying platform. This will be the first step toward creating a united European army,” Zelensky said.

He said that Ukraine could teach other countries how to conduct land warfare.

“There will be developments. We will introduce each other to technologies, drones, and, if necessary, teach land warfare and how to work with a modern, technological enemy. All of this will be necessary for security. This is peace — God willing, there will be no war,” he added.

According to Zelensky, all European countries must increase their defense capabilities.

“I believe we are a real example. This example can be used to build the Armed Forces of Europe. Even if there is no new legal model yet [for a European army]. But based on the existing forces, we can build it. In my opinion, all countries will have to increase their defense capabilities. Or, these can be allied forces,” he said.
