As many as 112 combat engagements were recorded between Ukrainian forces and Russian invaders on February 22, with Ukrainian defenders repelling 34 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk sector.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in a war update as of 08:00 on Sunday, February 23, Ukrinform reports.
“Yesterday, the enemy launched two missile strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements using three missiles, as well as 81 airstrikes, dropping 135 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, over 5,300 shelling attacks were recorded, including 47 from multiple launch rocket systems, and 2,785 kamikaze drones were used for strikes,” the update said.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes near Monachynivka, Zapadne, Zolochiv, and Dubivka in the Kharkiv region, Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Sloviansk, Myroliubivka, Zvirove, and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, Novopavlivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Huliaipole, Lobkove, Zelenе, Varvarivka, and Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region, Kherson, Vysoke, Tiahynka, Kozatske, and Shliakhove in the Kherson region.
During the past day, Ukrainian aircraft, missile and artillery forces struck two command posts, 15 areas of concentration of personnel and equipment, and two artillery systems of the invaders.
In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions five time near Vovchansk, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, and Zapadne.
In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks near Zahryzovе.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy carried out 13 attacks, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near Ivanivka, Kolodiazi, Yampolivka, and in the Serebrianskyi forest.
In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian units repelled the enemy’s offensive actions three times in the area of Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the invaders carried out six attacks outside Vasiukivka, Stupochky, and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 13 attacks near Toretsk and Dyliivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 34 assault and offensive operations of the aggressor near Vodiane Druhe, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. At the same time, the enemy actively used bombers and assault aircraft against settlements and Ukrainian military positions.
In the Novopavlivka sector, the aggressor launched eight attacks near the settlements of Kostiantynopil and Burlatske.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks near Piatykhatky and Shcherbaky.
In the Dnipro River sector, Russian invaders once attempted to push Ukrainian units from their positions but failed and suffered losses.
Ukraine’s operation in Russia’s Kursk region is ongoing. Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks in this sector. The enemy carried out 20 airstrikes, dropping 28 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 383 shelling attacks, including 14 from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Huliaipole sector, the invaders did not carry out any offensive actions.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there were no signs of enemy offensive group formations.
On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy actively uses artillery and strike UAVs against Ukrainian settlements.
