Türkiye strongly supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence and is determined to make every effort to end the war through negotiations so that next year Ukraine can mark the anniversary of peace, not war.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated this in a video address on the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“Just as we declared our opposition to the war when the conflict began three years ago, we are still determined to make every effort to end the war through negotiations. While doing so, we continue to strongly support Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence,” Erdoğan said.
The Turkish President emphasized the need for a diplomatic way to end the war.
“As we have proclaimed from the very start, the path to a just and lasting peace can be opened with an equation where both sides to the war are equally and fairly represented,” Erdoğan said.
The Turkish leader recalled the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to Türkiye last week and the vision he expressed for peace talks.
Erdoğan stressed: “It is our shared responsibility to mark the anniversary of peace next year, not war”.
“As Türkiye, we will continue to work with all our strength to establish a just and lasting peace. With these thoughts, I sincerely wish that 2025 will be the year when peace is built,” the president added.
As Ukrinform reported, a rally of solidarity with the people of Ukraine was held in Ankara today to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The event was attended by foreign diplomats and military attaches, representatives of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities, journalists and friends of Ukraine among Turkish citizens.
