Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has called on Europe to take decisive action and show solidarity with Ukraine to establish security on the European continent.
The head of the Ukrainian government stated this at the Support Ukraine summit, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“It is time for decisive measures to protect European security. Ukraine is already taking every possible measure to protect our shared home, and we are committed to continuing this effort. We hope that Europe and the international community will respond with courage at this crucial moment, with decisive action and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. The time has come for a strong Europe to take its rightful place at the [negotiating] table,” Shmyhal emphasized.
He noted that Ukraine is paying the highest costs of the war against Russia, as evidenced by significant losses in terms of human life and economic infrastructure. He noted that Ukraine has bought time for Europe to take needed measures to save the continent from disaster. He stressed that this opportunity should not be missed.
“Even when Russia started the war in Donbas and seized Crimea, not many people saw it as a cloud in the sky. But now a storm has begun, which may start moving westward at any moment,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
He also stressed that the Kremlin is trying to divide the EU countries in order to dominate each of them individually. Shmyhal emphasized that only the unity of Europe is a guarantee of security and economic prosperity.
As reported by Ukrinform, Kyiv hosted the Support Ukraine summit with the participation of EU leaders and partner states. President Volodymyr Zelensky opened the summit.
