The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has held a meeting with domestic arms manufacturers to discuss the possibility of signing three-year contracts. These agreements aim to ensure production stability, support the defense sector’s growth, and enhance the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
That’s according to the ministry’s press service, Ukrinform reports.
“Together with the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, we have identified a number of priority Ukrainian weapons and military equipment that are critically important for gaining battlefield superiority. Signing long-term contracts with manufacturers of these weapons is intended to guarantee a reliable supply,” the press service quoted First Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk as saying.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing domestic manufacturers in supplying the army with essential weaponry and equipment.
“Long-term contracts allow manufacturers to plan their operations, attract investment, and develop technologies. The Defense Ministry’s procurement agency has already signed contracts worth UAH 208 billion with Ukrainian manufacturers. These contracts cover artillery systems, ammunition, anti-tank missile systems, mortars and related rounds, armored combat vehicles, trucks, electronic warfare equipment, heavy bomber drones, and more,” said Hlib Kanievskyi, Director of the Defense Ministry’s Procurement Policy Department.
The ministry compiled a list of required weaponry based on the needs and priorities set by the General Staff. Key criteria include manufacturer codification, serial production capabilities, and a localization level of at least 50%.
The ministry also said that it would continue working on defense procurement reforms, implementing effective mechanisms for cooperation with Ukrainian manufacturers to ensure Ukrainian forces have everything necessary to defend the country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently emphasized the need to speed up and expand weapons production in Ukraine and Europe, including through investment in small private Ukrainian defense companies.
