The Pokrovsk City Military Administration called on the population not to succumb to the manipulations of the city’s mayor, Ruslan Trebushkin, who the day before called on the President of Ukraine to conclude peace with Russia and “let people live.”
According to Ukrinform, this was emphasized by the Pokrovsk City Military Administration (СMA) on Facebook, publishing its official position on Trebushkin’s statement.
The СMA reminded that, according to the law, since the introduction of the military administration, the community has been managed exclusively by its head, who is appointed by the President of Ukraine, and the territorial community official, the mayor, is in official downtime until the termination or lifting of martial law in Ukraine.
“We urge the community residents not to succumb to manipulations. The fate of our community and the entire country depends on the resilience, unity and support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the military administration said in response to Trebushkin’s video message.
In his video on Facebook, Mayor Trebushkin addressed in Russian not Russian President Putin, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling for peace and “letting people live.”
“Vladimir Alexandrovich, the residents of the Pokrovsk community want peace. The majority of Ukrainians want peace. People do not want to fight, they are tired. The same military who are on the front line, who have not been replaced for a long time, people want to go home. They want you to give them peace. Mr. President, we believe in you. Make peace and let people live,” Trebushkin said.
In response, the military administration said that today Ukrainians have no right to make concessions “to irresponsible political suggestions” and accept any conditions put forward by Russia to end the war.
“Today, when President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his team are fighting for the best conditions for ending the war in the international arena, and our defenders are fighting the occupiers every day despite pain, fear and mortal danger, we have no right to make concessions to irresponsible political suggestions, to be cowardly and to nurture despondency,” the CMA emphasized.
They also noted that in Pokrovsk, the CMA continues to work in the frontline zone, experiencing all the extremely difficult conditions of a full-scale war, experiencing daily enemy shelling and the consequences of the humanitarian crisis, and “in these conditions, it makes every effort to ensure the safety of citizens and support the Ukrainian Defense Forces.”
As reported, in September 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Serhiy Dobriak as the head of the Pokrovsk CMA.
In 2019, Ruslan Trebushkin was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation from the Opposition Bloc party in constituency 50 (Donetsk region). He was a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.
In 2020, Trebushkin won the mayoral election in Pokrovsk.
On March 19, 2022, the National Security and Defense Council suspended the party’s activities for the duration of martial law due to a full-scale attack by the Russian army on Ukraine.
