All democratic parties in the Bundestag, including those that will be part of the next government, will continue to provide unwavering support to Ukraine.
German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze stated this in a commentary to Ukrinform.
“We want to assure Ukrainians that we remain committed to providing them with both military and civilian means, including in the energy sector, with everything they need to defend themselves against this aggressive war that violates international law. All democratic parties support Ukraine,” she stressed.
Schulze noted that civilian assistance is an integral part of the military assistance. She underscored that a strong society, with power supply, operational hospitals and businesses, teachers and safe learning environments, is key to Ukraine’s successful defense. Germany, she assured, will play an active role in supporting these efforts as long as necessary.
At the same time, she noted that support for Ukraine is not limited to politicians; many citizens are also expressing their support by taking to the streets of German cities. This comes three years after the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine – to make it clear: “We will not leave you alone.”
“We know that Ukrainians are very strong, they defend not only their freedom but also the freedom of Europe every day, and we are very grateful to them for that!” the German minister stressed.
As a reminder, as part of her official visit to Ukraine in December 2024, Svenja Schulze personally handed over part of the civilian assistance promised by Germany, including winter equipment, which includes 80 mobile CHP units, more than 20 mobile boiler houses, transformers and hybrid generators, as well as lifting platforms for repairing central power lines.
With this equipment, about 2.6 million Ukrainians will be able to receive heat and electricity during the third winter of the war. The delivery is part of the Ukraine winter package, which was approved by the German Bundestag’s budget committee last September. The package totals EUR 90 million.
