President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine will not agree to a ceasefire without security guarantees.
He made this statement during a meeting with journalists at the White House alongside U.S. President Donald Trump, as reported by Ukrinform.
“Putin has violated the ceasefire 25 times. Therefore, we will not agree to a ceasefire without security guarantees. A document is not enough. We need a strong army. Russian soldiers fear ours, but if we have empty stockpiles, we won’t have anything to defend ourselves with,” said Zelensky.
As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky is currently on a visit to Washington. Before his talks with Trump, he met with a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Senate. Zelensky said they discussed continued military aid to Ukraine, efforts to achieve peace, Ukraine’s vision for ending the war, and the importance of reliable security guarantees.
The visit also includes a meeting with the Ukrainian community, a speech at the Hudson Institute, and other activities.
