U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have started talks in the Oval Office, discussing a wide range of issues, including establishing peace in Ukraine, deepening the partnership between the two countries, and other key topics.

The meeting is taking place with the participation of official delegations from both sides, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

The heads of state are expected to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine, ways to end it and establish peace, the implementation of bilateral cooperation in the development of Ukraine’s mineral resources, and other matters. Their discussions will continue during a working lunch, providing an opportunity for a more informal exchange of views.

Following this, the presidents will take part in the signing of a bilateral Agreement on the Establishing Rules and Conditions for the Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers had previously approved the decision to sign the Agreement with the U.S. government.

The Agreement is a framework document, meaning that further steps will need to be developed by both parties. Moving forward, the two countries will work on establishing the reconstruction investment fund, which will require ratification by the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada).
