The leaders of the Baltic states are “very unhappy” that the United Kingdom did not invite them to join the summit on Ukraine, which will take place in London on March 2.

According to Ukrinform, Sky News reports this, citing a European diplomatic source.

“We are truly very unhappy with a refusal to invite the Baltic leaders,” the source said.

The official added that both Russia and the Baltic public will interpret this decision as a signal that “we are sold out by the U.S., but also by the UK and France.”

At the same time, the diplomatic source confirmed that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer would have a phone call with the Baltic leaders. However, they indicated that this is a poor substitute for not participating in the summit in person.

It is noted that the three Baltic states — Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia — border on Russia on NATO’s eastern flank and are among the alliance’s top spenders on defense as a percentage of GDP.

They are also some of Ukraine’s strongest supporters, providing weapons and financial aid to assist Kyiv in its fight against Russia’s invasion.

For years, they have been among the loudest voices in Europe warning about the threat posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Starmer will host a European leaders’ summit on Downing Street on Sunday, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in attendance.
