Vasyl Ratushnyi, the elder brother of well-known activist Roman Ratushnyi, has been killed on the front line. Roman also lost his life in the war in June 2022.
Their mother, writer Svitlana Povaliaieva, announced the news on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
“On the night of February 27, during a combat mission, UAV pilot of the ‘Madyar’s Birds’ unit Vasyl Ratushnyi was killed by a direct hit from an FPV drone. My eldest son, my life,” she wrote.
Roman Ratushnyi led the civic organization “Save Protasiv Yar,” which opposed high-rise construction in Kyiv’s parkland. After Russia’s full-scale invasion, he volunteered to join Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Roman was killed in an ambush near Izium on June 9, 2022, and was laid to rest at Kyiv’s Baikove Cemetery.
